- “Behind the Lines: Contemporary Art from Syria”
Co-Curated by Paul Crawford of Penticton Art Gallery and Humam Alsalim in Damascus, this exhibition comprises roughly 95 pieces created by 19 artists, most of whom are still currently residing in Syria. This is the first time these pieces are on exhibition in North America; all are available for purchase, and a price catalogue is available (email@example.com).
- “Judith Foster: The Consul”
Judith Foster ( 1930-2000) was born in the US, and resided in the Okanagan Valley from 1975 until her passing. On exhibition are 45 paintings that she created about the Pulitzer Prize winning opera, The Consul, an opera that she went to see 33 times. Judith developed a long-term relationship with the lead female singer, Patricia Neway, who is depicted in many of the art works in this exhibition.
- “Kurt Hutterli: The Museum of Unknown Civilizations”
Kurt Hutterli emigrated to Oliver in 1996 from Bern, Switzerland. Hutterli collected and designed the pieces in this “museum” over a period of 15 years ; the result is 46 mysterious invented artifacts that are likely to illicit curiosity and delight in the viewer.
