About Me
I enjoy painting subjects that are considered ordinary, and exploring their forms and colors, which display their extraordinary qualities. After I completed my BA in Linguistics and Spanish and my Master’s degree in Education at SFU, I received my Diploma in Art Education from the University of British Columbia in 1999, focusing on ceramics and textiles, after which I was awarded University of BC’s Art Teacher of the Year.
During my childhood I attended the children’s Saturday classes at the old Vancouver Art Gallery on Georgia Street on Saturdays. In my teens I took part in classes at the Vancouver School of Art (the former Emily Carr School of Art). Over the last few years I have rediscovered my passion for painting, attending online and live classes from a wide variety of instructors, including Kerry Dunn, Will Kemp, Jeff Wilson, Mike Svob and Patti Mollica. Influences on my work include travel, as well as living and working in Japan, Southern California and Guatemala.
My oil and acrylic paintings have appeared in art shows, restaurants and wineries in Osoyoos and Oliver and have been purchased by art lovers throughout Canada and the U.S.
